Weekly Green Tip – We Love Our Volunteers!

September 27, 2013 - Executive Director, Latest

I just wanted to make a quick post and recognize some outstanding volunteer groups here at Irvine today. First, the great folks from T. Rowe Price descended upon Irvine in droves today to help us prepare for our big event, Pupmkins on the Green, next Friday. They removed invasives, pruned perrenials, and mulched beds making our driveway look even more beautiful than ever. We appreciate so much the relationship we have with T. Rowe Price – not only do we have regular groups of volunteers, but they are also a corporate sponsor. Furthermore, we are fortunate to have at least one T Rowe employee sitting on our board of trustees currently. Thank you, T. Rowe Price!

Our second group today was even larger – we were fortunate to have the entire freshman class from St. Paul’s School for Boys lending their abundant energy to our efforts. Under the supervision of our volunteer group coordinator, Emily Stransky, the boys removed invasives, cleared trails, and layered cardboard and woodchips over non-native thistle in an effort to eradicate that prolific species from our meadows. I want to thank SPSB Upper School Dean of Students, Jon Marinacci, for reaching out to us and offering the boys’ services. We hope you all will come back again soon!
