Business Volunteers Maryland GIVE Program at Irvine Nature Center!

November 5, 2013 - Irvine Volunteers, Latest

This past weekend, BVU Maryland’s GIVE Program had their final project work day at Irvine Nature Center. The weather was perfect and the group completed a great project for Irvine’s Outdoor Classroom. They built a human-sized bird’s nest out of fence posts and Oriental Bittersweet. The project was two-fold: build a new component for the outdoor classroom (a space utilized by thousands of children and families each year) and help to clear Oriental Bittersweet, an invasive, damaging plant, out of the forest. Thank you, BVU, for being so enthusiastic and creative with this project! I showed them a general idea of what the nest ought to look like and they went for it from there! Check out the pictures below to see the process and the end result! Again, amazing job.
