9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance

September 14, 2015 - Irvine Volunteers

This past Friday, Irvine hosted its 3rd Annual Day of Service in remembrance of the 14th anniversary of 9/11. A huge range of volunteers came out to show their support, including Irvine’s Garden Keepers, Volunteer Naturalists, Youth Program Leaders, interns and staff, and a returning volunteer group from the Air Force.

One group worked on finishing touches in Irvine’s Outdoor Classroom, including a safety check and reset of the drainage channel. They also prepped an area of land for a tree planting by removing invasive plants, including mile-a-minute and Japanese stiltgrass. The second group worked down at the Native American site, continuing work on our replica longhouse, clearing out the firepit, removing invasive plants, and much more.

Thank you so much to our incredible volunteers!
