Annual Volunteer Update – 2015

December 31, 2015 - Irvine Volunteers

Here’s what’s new in the volunteer department:

    • PumpkinFest was a huge success this fall! 125+ volunteers contributed a total of 529 hours on a beautiful fall day filled with hay rides, crafts, games, and more! A huge thank you to The North Face, Americorps, Towson University, Stevenson University, Garrison Forest Upper School, Franklin High School, St. Timothy’s School, and Jemicy Upper School volunteers, along with Irvine’s fantastic Volunteer Naturalist, Garden Keepers, interns, and work study students.

    • Save the date! Volunteer Naturalist Maple Sugar training is January 28th, 9 AM – 3 PM. Learn to ID maple trees, tap the trees to collect sap and boil down the sap into maple syrup and candy – everything you’ll need to know to lead students on field trips! Sign up here or email Kim for more information.

  • Sue and Tim Davis were announced as the 2015 recipients of the Jeanne Baetjer Volunteer of the Year award. Read more about it here.

And now, the announcement you’ve all been waiting for!

    •  In 2015, volunteers contributed 20,591 hours of service. From assisting with Irvine’s Nature Preschool, leading field trips, and caring for Irvine’s animal collection, to invasive plant removal, songbird nest box monitoring, and even stuffing envelopes, Irvine volunteers do it all! Thank you to our fantastic team of dedicated volunteers!
