Jayson Harvey’s Eagle Scout project

May 5, 2015 - Irvine Volunteers

If you’ve ever walked the seasonal trails at Irvine, you’ve probably noticed several portions that get quite muddy and are only accessible via boardwalks. This spring, scout Jayson Alexander Harvey of Troop #970 took on the challenge of constructing four new boardwalk planks for his Eagle Scout project!

Jayson worked with Irvine Naturalist Steve Mickletz to determine the high priority spots that needed boardwalks. After completing the construction offsite, Jayson and his troop camped out at Irvine to finish the project. The scouts installed the new boardwalks, and rearranged several existing planks for increased stability. The trails are now more accessible, and it is much appreciated by staff and visitors alike.

Thanks again and congratulations to Jayson Harvey and Troop #970!
