This Week’s Adventures: We loved learning about birds and bird habits in spring. We enjoyed listening for birds and counting birds we saw during our hike. We saw bird specimens, like an Eastern bluebird, and even met a live red-tailed hawk! We sorted lots of materials to create nests and sculpted nests from clay. We painted our own beautiful wings and used them to fly. We visited several bird boxes to record if there were nests, eggs, or birds inside – we’ll keep tracking them this spring.

Next’s Week’s Theme: Food in the Garden (focus on letter “Ff”)

Try this at Home: Take a walk near your home and make a list of things birds could use to build nests. Is there anything you can do to help nesting birds this spring? Put up a bird house? Hang nesting materials like string or dryer lint from a mesh produce bag?
