Community Helpers

October 5, 2012 - Preschool Weekly

This Week’s Adventures: Just as plants and animals rely on each other, people rely on each other for survival, too. This week we compared important jobs that people do with the jobs that plants and animals do in the natural world.

Favorite Activities: We had fun with dramatic play as we acted out many jobs we find in the community.  We focused on bees in the animal world and enjoyed playing the “bee bodies” pollination game as well as the “bee nectar” smelling game!  We explored the trails and meadow for animal and insect communties.  We visited with Miss Evelyn in the Irvine workroom to learn how the mail is delivered to the post office.  Thanks Miss Evelyn!

Next’s Week’s Theme: Apples, Pumpkins and Gourds – Oh My! (letter “Pp”)

Try this at home: Look for ants in your backyard or at a park.  Watch the ants closely to observe how they work together in their tiny community.
