Bauer Explorers (FOR 10-14YRS)- Monthly Enrichment Afternoons

If you are looking for occasional classes for your homeschooler, Bauer Explorers is perfect! Join a small group of nature loving kids, as they learn through exploration, throughout Irvine’s 211 acres. Offered select Tuesdays throughout the year. Register for a specific date or for the year-long series and save! Membership discounts apply! All classes are drop-off.


During this 2 hour class, we engage in place-based learning and hiking. Students will explore many topics such as land stewardship, wild plant identification and recipes, and natural arts. Non-member price: $30/session

  • Sept. 24 – Stream Searching How heathy is our stream? Our data will tell! Investigate and learn in our wetland habitat. Wear your boots to prepare for a wet exploration.
  • Oct. 29 – Fall Foraging We’ll hike and build greater awareness for the wonders of fall’s bounty.
  • Nov. 19 – Animals of Irvine Students will have hands on experience feeding, caring for, and creating enrichment materials for the many species of injured and imprinted animals that live at Irvine.
  • Mar. 25 – Maple Magic It’s a magical time of year. Hike the understory loops to the sugar shack to search for tapped trees and learn about the biology, chemistry, and physics of maple sugaring.
  • Apr. 1 – Ants, Beetles, Turtles and Ephemeral Flowers – What’s the connection? Learn about the fascinating web that creates blossoms on the forest floor.
  • May 20 – Meadow Time: Birds, Pollinators and Pond Studies Don your boots, bring your journal and explore seasonal patterns in our busy meadows.
