ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Irvine Nature Center is a non-profit educational organization that offers programs of environmental studies and natural science to children and adults of the greater Baltimore area. Our mission is to educate and inspire current and future generations to explore, respect and protect nature. Located on 211-acres in Owings Mills, Maryland, Irvine serves families in The Nature Preschool, Earth Friends Outdoors Homeschool, and hundreds of school groups with fieldtrips and in-school events. In addition to its educational programming, Irvine has an interactive exhibit hall and hiking trails and is available for special event rentals.
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: Environmental Educators at Irvine Nature Center inspire learners of all ages during Summer Nature Camp, field trips, school groups, community outreach and public programs – all furthering the mission of Irvine Nature Center.
OPERATIONS + ADMINISTRATION: Join the team that keeps Irvine running. There are multiple opportunities in administration, land maintenance, and visitor services, that are all critical to the mission of Irvine Nature Center.
RENTALS + EVENTS: Irvine Nature Center welcomes private events such as weddings, parties and corporate events. In conjunction with the Rental Coordinator, open positions include oversight and coordination of all rentals at the Center, including weddings, corporate gatherings, mitzvahs, birthday parties and other special events.
CAMP COUNSELOR - SUMMER NATURE CAMP
(FULL AND PART-TIME, SEASONAL)
Part of Irvine’s Summer Nature Camp team, the seasonal camp counselors lead groups of campers throughout Irvine’s 211 acres in exploration, creative arts, and games. Camp counselors should be passionate about connecting children with nature. Counselors are responsible for the direct supervision of campers ages 3 to 12.
AFTERCARE LEADER - SUMMER NATURE CAMP
(PART-TIME, SEASONAL)
Part of Irvine’s Summer Nature Camp team, the aftercare leader will oversee activities and games for any campers that have enrolled in extended care. Aftercare leaders are responsible for the direct supervision of children ranging in age from 5 to 12 years old.
AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR
(PART-TIME)
The Eco-Explorers After-School Nature Club operates in the afternoon at elementary schools in the region. We are currently seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and organized individual to prepare for and lead hands-on, outdoor environmental education for after-school programs, with elementary aged children. This position will be responsible for the supervision of program volunteers and interns.
OPERATIONS MANAGER
(FULL-TIME)
It takes a great deal of systems and processes to accomplish Irvine’s mission. As such, Irvine is hiring an Operations Manager to directly coordinate with leadership and staff to focus on day-to-day and long-term initatives related to infrastructure and systems. This management level position is a critical role at Irvine and perfect for a mission-driven individual that is a critical thinker, detail oriented, flexible, and experienced in adminstration. A passion for nature is a plus.
