Located just northwest of Baltimore, Irvine Nature Center is a leading environmental education center with 95,000 visitors a year. Our green building and 211 acres of forests, meadows and wetlands are perfect for students, families and nature-lovers. We look forward to exploring nature with you!

Irvine is open to individuals and families, Tuesday-Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., year round. Irvine is closed on Mondays. No dogs or bikes allowed.

Animal Ambassadors

Over 55 species of native and non-native animal species call Irvine Nature Center their permanent home. Their mission? To teach both children and adults about the importance of conservation, and how we can all work to make our world a better place.

Indoor Exhibits

Irvine’s Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Environmental Education Building offers our guests and indoor space for exploration. Visitors can enjoy our live animal exhibits, play in our children’s room, and get more information about the programs and classes offered at Irvine.

Trails, Wetlands & Sights

Irvine’s 211 acre property showcases the beauty of Maryland’s natural landscape. With nearly 8 miles of hiking trails, gardens featuring native plants, and our Outdoor Classroom built for child-led nature play, there’s an outdoor experience just waiting for you to explore at Irvine.
