September 25, 2015 - Preschool, Preschool Weekly

Cool breezes, falling leaves and the sound of nuts plopping from the trees are all around at The Nature Preschool at Irvine! We welcome fall with open arms! The children have been using their “observing scopes” to spot some signs of fall! We have seen scurrying chipmunks eagerly collecting nuts! The children took a cue from them and had some fun collecting acorns and hickory nuts in their trail pails. We left them out in the fairy circle and can’t wait to visit back and see if they have been nibbled on! The students were eager to begin working on their letters! This week we focused on the letter “S”—seeds, smashing, snake, and spotting scopes! We collected black walnuts and smashed them with rocks on the access road! They children collected poke berries and smashed them to make paint for our nature journals! Some classes met a snake in the classroom, and other classes encountered a wild snake in the outdoor classroom! We are excited to settle into fall and have more adventures in our new season!
