School Gardens Get Kids Moving!

Besides school gardens serving as outdoor classrooms, they have also been found to boost students’ physical activity for 10 more minutes a week than before their schools had gardens. This discovery was made by Cornell University after studying students at 12 elementary schools over a two-year period. Nearly one in three American children are overweight or obese, and school gardens could be an easy and inexpensive way to get kids more active. Yet another great reason to build gardens at schools!
