Day To Serve is an annual, month-long community service initiative in which Maryland joins Washington, D.C., Virginia, and West Virginia in encouraging its residents to get out and volunteer. This year, Irvine Nature Center is coordinating an effort for those interested in volunteering. Please join us on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 10:00am until 2:00pm for this community event, which aims to make our environment more beautiful and help those who have less.
Day To Serve Volunteers may choose from one of two ways to get involved at Irvine on September 11th:
1) Picking up trash and debris next door at the Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery — let’s help keep this sacred space clean!
2) Removing invasive plant species from Irvine’s property — joining this effort directly impacts the native plants and animals that call Irvine home.
If you cannot spend the day with us at Irvine, please consider joining in our third way to give back: starting on September 11th, we will be collecting nonperishable food items to benefit the children and families at The Arc in Baltimore City. We will be collecting these items until October 12, 2019 so please swing by Irvine and make a donation!
If you would like to register to volunteer during Irvine’s Day To Serve, please use the form below. Those with questions or groups that would like to volunteer should contact Ben Fertig at FertigB@ExploreNature.org.
