Snowy owls nest in the Arctic tundra.
In the winter, snowy owls often migrate through Canada and northern Eurasia and sometimes visit Maryland. In 2014 during an unprecedented snowy owl irruption, Dave Brinker, Ecologist with Maryland’s Wildlife & Heritage Service, began a collaborative project known as Project SNOWStorm devoted to studying snowy owls.
