National Volunteer Week – Preschool

April 10, 2016 - Irvine Volunteers

April 10th-16th is National Volunteer Week! While we celebrate and appreciate our Irvine volunteers each and every week, this week we’ll be highlighting a few of our fabulous volunteers! Each day we will feature a different volunteer opportunity at Irvine, and let you know how to get involved!

Today we’ll be featuring two of Irvine’s amazing preschool volunteers! Tiffany Jackson DaCosta and Alicia Snellings, students of nearby Stevenson University, have been volunteering with Irvine for all four years of their undergraduate careers. Tiffany and Alicia both work in the Nature Preschool, and Alicia helps with our Parent-Child CNS classes as well. The two can often be found leading hikes, singing songs, and playing in the Outdoor Classroom with our preschool students.

Alicia said: “The kids are why I chose to work at Irvine in the first place. I love watching them learn and grow. Seeing them explore in new ways to do things is great. I also love the Irvine teaching style. I did not have this type of learning experience (the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approach) as a kid and I really do believe the kids benefit from this type of education. This is my last semester at Irvine, and I really am going to miss everyone.”

Tiffany said: “My favorite part of volunteering with Irvine is being able to see the smiles on the children’s faces everyday as they learn and play in the nature preschool. I also enjoy going on the hikes with the children and seeing their discoveries along the way.”

Thank you Tiffany and Alicia – we will miss you!
