Experience an up-close look at the habitat and life cycle of our native butterflies, including the monarch, swallowtail and painted lady. An Irvine naturalist will help you find remarkable caterpillars and even tiny eggs. Discover the amazing metamorphosis that these creatures make, from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. And, you’ll learn about the vital role butterflies play in plant pollination and in the food chain.

Open June until the end of September (weather dependent).
During your visit , please:
- Do not disturb the butterflies, flowers or plants.
- Watch your step.
- Take only photographs; leave only footprints.
- Check for butterfly “hitch-hikers” as you exit.
- Close doors promptly.
