In 2000 the state of Maryland gave Irvine a gift of 116-acres in the heart of the Caves Valley area of Baltimore County. Surrounded by 1,200 acres of land held in conservation easement, this would be the ideal property on which to site a new facility dedicated to sharing nature’s wonder with current and future generations of Marylanders. Today the campaign for a new nature center is well on its way, with construction to begin in 2007 and the move in 2008.
